Construction of biogas plant Alkmaar has started
Deputy mayor Nicole Mulder of the city of Alkmaar gave the starting signal for the construction of the biogas plant for Sustenso last week. In the presence of, among others, CEO Hans van der Weide and our project leader the first pile was driven into the ground.
Sustenso's biogas installation will convert organic residual flows into green gas. The first step in this process is the fermentation process, in which bacteria convert the organic material into biogas. The resulting biogas is then cleaned, dried and separated from CO2, resulting in (green) gas that is of exactly the same quality as traditional natural gas.
As the main contractor, Biogas Plus can take care of the engineering, purchasing, construction and project management. This installation will produce around 5 million m³ of green gas annually, which will provide 3,300 households with green gas. After the official kick-off of the project, the invited guests were addressed by the deputy mayor, who emphasized the enthusiasm and dedication of the initiators. The production of green gas is expected to start in 2023.
